The Wonago Health and Demographic Surveillance Research Center (WHDSRC), one of Ethiopia’s HDSS, was established by Dilla University in 2022 with the goal of offering reliable data for the formulation of policy and decision-making. The field coordination offices were situated in Wonago, Gedeo Zone, South Ethiopia region. The distance between Wonago town and Dilla town, the Gedeo zone’s administrative city, is 15.4 kilometers. Eight randomly chosen kebeles—six rural and two urbans—were selected at baseline to make up the current WHDSRC. WHDSRC, like other similar centers in Ethiopia, will play a major role in data generation and can also serve as a platform for researchers interested in using our sampling frames for PhD or postgraduate research activities.
