College of Engineering and Technology
Dilla University College of Engineering and Technology (DU-CoET), established in 2003 E.C., aims to produce skilled professionals to support Ethiopia’s industrial development. Recognizing the critical role of engineering and technology education in economic competitiveness, the Ethiopian government is enhancing higher learning institutions focused on these fields. In 2005 E.C., the institution was upgraded from a School to a College, with plans to evolve into an Institute of Technology in the future.
Currently, DU-CoET offers eight undergraduate programs, including Civil Engineering, Hydraulic and Water Resource Engineering, Construction Technology and Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, and Automotive Engineering. Additionally, there is a postgraduate master program in Computer Science and Networking, all delivered through seven specialized schools within the college.
Mission
The vision focuses on creating a holistic university experience that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and social awareness among students. It aims to cultivate a supportive environment for faculty development and to collaborate with government and industry on sustainable technologies and economic growth. Key objectives include building national capabilities in technology education, enhancing university-industry linkages for technology transfer, preserving Ethiopia’s heritage, and enabling graduates to tackle engineering challenges collaboratively. To achieve this vision, restructuring of the college’s organizational structure is necessary.
Vission
To become one of the excellent Institutes of Technology in research, training & technology transfer by the year 2023 in Ethiopia.
