Mission
The Department of Computer Science at Dilla University was established in 1999 E.C. (2006 G.C.) under the School of Mathematics and Computer Science and later joined the College of Engineering and Technology in 2004 E.C. (2011 G.C.). The department is committed to producing competent, innovative technology professionals through a practice-oriented education that integrates theory with real-world applications. Its programs, BSc in Computer Science and MSc in Computer Science and Networking are designed to meet both national development goals and global technological demands.
Vision
The department’s mission is to deliver an internationally recognized curriculum that aligns with Ethiopia’s 2030 development objectives while preparing students for the 21st century workforce. Its vision emphasizes fostering growth, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills across diverse fields and encouraging collaboration with industries and government bodies. The overarching goal is to produce graduates with entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindsets, equipped with strong theoretical foundations, adaptable skills, and the ability to pursue advanced studies and research. By promoting innovation, lifelong learning, and IT-based education, the department aims to cultivate professionals ready to contribute effectively to Ethiopia’s and the world’s technological advancement.
